ON WET HAIR

1. Protect: Pre-Blow-Dry Shield:

Before blow drying, work a small amount of Argan6 Oil through damp hair, then use a wide-tooth comb to gently work out tangles.

2. Illuminate: Styling Shine Booster:

For the ultimate high-shine blow out, blend 2 drops of Argan6 Oil  with a small amount of satinwear 02 ultimate blow dry lotion, and apply to damp hair and style as usual.

3: Soften: Treatment Booster:

After shampooing, add 3 Drops of Argan6 Oil to All Soft Heavy Cream softening rinse-out mask and apply to towel-dried hair. Leave on for 5 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.

ON DRY HAIR

4. Moisturize: Pre-Shampoo Treatment

Divide hair into equal sections and apply 2-3 drops of Argan6 Oil to hair and scalp. Massage and leave in for 5-10 minutes, and then comb through. Follow with All Soft Shampoo and Conditioner.

5: Smooth: Post Blow-Dry Perfector

To control dry, frizzy hair, apply a few drops of Argan6 Oil after blow drying. Reapply as needed.

6: Recondition: Overnight Treatment

Apply Argan6 Oil evenly through hair before going to bed. The formula acts overnight and wont transer to your pillow. In the morning leave in or rinse out.

How does it work?

• Dry hair is caused by the depletion of the hydrolipidic film, a barrier around the cuticle of the hair that protects against external stress and maintains a natural moisture balance.
• As hair becomes dry, the cuticle becomes more brittle and no longer lays flat. This leaves the cortex of the fiber, which is comprised of keratin protein, vulnerable.
• Argan-6 Oil penetrates the cortex to replenish lipids for intense softness.

Additional Uses

Add airy volume and moisture to fine, dry hair by layering a small amount of aerate 08 bodifying cream-mousse and Argan-6 Oil. Blow-dry with a medium-round brush.

For a soft, disheveled look, layer tousle whip 04 and Argan-6 Oil on damp hair. Blow-dry with fingers and apply Argan-6 Oil to ends as needed.

To give dry, curly hair frizz-free definition plus an added dose of moisture, layer curl wise 14 and Argan-6 Oil on damp hair. Allow to air-dry, then add additional Argan-6 Oil as needed.

The vision behind choosing each individual piece of fabric came from a mixture of the personal “Anthropology” style of the women on the board of Compassion 4, and the vibrant colors commonly seen in Southeast Asia.

Months of preparation and planning lead to this evening…Exotic trees were brought in, a runway was installed, and over 50 gracious volunteers came together to create the most Cambodian atmosphere possible.

The heart wrenching story behind Compassion4 was told, the clothing line was introduced, and the evening was complete with a beautifully put together boutique for everyone to purchase their favorite Liviya pieces.

On every piece of Liviya clothing, hangs a tag that on one side shows a tree with one leaf, and the flip side says this:

After hearing the stories of how Compassion4 has impacted lives in Cambodia by giving women a chance at a career that otherwise would have been impossible for them, and by giving at-risk children a chance at an education, the boutique was swarming with wet-eyed individuals who wanted a piece of the Liviya line.

The Liviya line is rapidly growing, and will continue to be held in the Urban Eve Boutique for everyone to enjoy.

While the feather fad is slowly moving out….( can’t wait to see what replaces it)…..I thought I would touch on the top 5 must haves that have arrived at Urban Eve!  It’s hard to put these things in order (because I’m obsessed with all of them!)…so, they are in random order

1. Holiday Sequin TOMS…..let’s just say it, if you have not tried a pair of TOMS, you have been missing out! TOMS is a “not just for profit” shoe company that gives a kid a pair of shoes for every pair they sell. Pretty awesome….To say this shoe has become a huge trend is an understatement! It all started with a guy on a trip to Argentina, saw poverty, wanted to make a difference, had a shoe idea and the rest is history….you see them EVERYWHERE! It’s not just a stylish and comfy shoe, but a shoe with a heart behind it.  The solid canvas are our best sellers, we can’t keep the glitters in stock, but TOMS has done it this season…..”The Sequins”. This is a product that made it into our hands recently….let me just say one word….OBSESSED. There are so many uses for this oil. The wonderful thing about it….it is NOT greasy. It gives your hair softness, nourishment, and protects dry, brittle hair.

This one luxurious oil has six amazing uses for achieving silky softness: before you shampoo to moisturize, before you blow-dry to protect, after you blow-dry to smooth, on dry hair to enhance shine, added to treatments to soften or overnight to recondition.

I can’t get enough of this stuff. We are using it on every guest…..putting it in our conditioning treatments, before blow-drys, as a finishing smoothing gloss…..the uses are endless. This is for sure a product you will want to pick up at Urban Eve for fall.

5. Falling Whistles. 

At Urban Eve we feel we have a “responsibility” to bring awareness to the injustices that are going on in our community and around the world. To do something positive, tell the story, be passionate.

I recently stumbled onto these whistles in a boutique and became interested to find out what they were about. I had NO idea there was even a war going on in the Congo…..much less, little children being on the front lines of it. I read how the soldiers kidnap children from their villages, some of them so small that they cannot even hold a gun. So, they are given whistles. They are put on the front lines of the war, forced to blow the whistles around their neck, so that they are the first ones to be shot. I was horrified. Children should be playing soccer, watching cartoons, and most of all…loved.

Instantly I felt a responsibility to carry these at Urban Eve. To get the story out about these children.

Our community gives so much to us…….it only feels natural to support them back.

Our staff had the opportunity to attend the True to Life Ministries banquet this past weekend. It was so beautiful and inspiring (our girls were looking good too!)…..good food and awesome stories of how this organization is impacting our community. TTLM makes Operation Backpack happen, which feeds hungry & homeless children in Brazoria County….they also help train women & men in our community how to get back into the working world.

Let’s just say, New York City is the place to get inspired. It is such a melting pot of fashion, people, and culture. LOVE IT….On top of that, our team was able to train for 3 days at the number one training facility in the United States with the top educators in our industry. It is crucial in our profession to stay current with what is hot….and even to stay ahead of what is coming 6 months ahead of time!

Our team at Urban Eve always has a blast wherever we go…whatever we do! New York was not an exception Good food (lots of it!), shopping on shady Canal St., crazy cab drivers…..but, the highlight was the training. We can always count on Redken to know what is going to be on trend 6 months ahead of time. It was so amazing to learn new techniques & trends to bring back to our guests.

The Redken Exchange is located on the second floor right on 5th Avenue. Jason & the girls learned the latest & greatest when it comes to color techniques, haircutting & design, and finishing out the look. The last day was all about looking for your insparation and translating it into a look for their model. The days were jam packed with knowledge and tons of new things to add to what makes Urban Eve great!

Jenn learned all about building a portfolio & did a photo shoot in the Meat Packing district!

We came back inspired & ready to take Urban Eve to the next level…….Monday we are doing a “Jam Session” to teach the staff that didn’t get to go. FUN!
